Frequently asked questions
This is a pilot. The Ideals Precision Series rewards programme is running at one event first, with a small team fulfilling everything by hand, so it can be put right before it goes any further. Tap a question to open the answer.
How do you earn points?
Three ways during the pilot. Upload photos from a Precision Series experience. Paste the link to your public LinkedIn post with Ideals tagged or a programme hashtag in it. Or add a colleague's corporate email to your team. Each one is worth the number of points shown on its card on the Earn Points tab, and a person on the Ideals team checks it before those points are added. Points may also be added before the event, or awarded for winning something on the day.
How do you share a post?
Paste its link if you can. Open your post on LinkedIn, tap Share or the three dots, choose Copy link, then paste it into the Share Your Post box on the Earn Points tab. It has to be a public https:// link so somebody on our team can open it and see Ideals tagged or a programme hashtag. If you are encountering issues send a screenshot.
A private post cannot earn points, because nobody on our team can open it to check it. If that is the one you have shared, change it to public and then send us the link. The screenshot box is there for the times the link itself is the problem, not as a way round a post being private.
LinkedIn is the only network this counts on. Ideals does not post anywhere else.
Is there a limit on how many times you can earn?
Yes, on each way of earning. Invitations to colleagues are capped at 5 for the pilot, and the Team tab shows how many you have left. Photos and posts have their own cap, and the Earn Points card tells you how many you have left before you fill anything in. A submission our team cannot approve does not use one up, so there is nothing to lose by trying.
When do your points appear?
After a person has looked at your submission. Nothing approves itself. During the event we check the queue through the day; outside event hours it may take until the next working day. You get an email every single time points are added to your balance. If no email arrived, no points were added.
You tapped Redeem and your balance did not change. Is that broken?
No, that is deliberate. Tapping Redeem creates a request and sends you an acknowledgement. Somebody from the team then emails you the options, which voucher or which size, and the points only come off when we confirm your reward is being processed. Until then the points are held aside for that request so they cannot be spent twice.
Where can you see every movement of your points?
On the Balance history tab. It lists every change, newest first, what it was for, and the balance you were left with. It is built from the same append-only record the team works from, so what you see is what we see.
Why are you asked to tick a box before sending a request?
Because some employers cap or bar gifts from a supplier, and a few professional bodies bar them outright. Ticking the box is you telling us your employer allows it, or that you have the approval you need. We record the confirmation with the request so the team can see it was given. If you are not sure, ask your own compliance team first and send the request afterwards.
What is a point worth?
Points, and nothing else. We do not put a cash value on a point and you will not see a price anywhere in the portal. What a reward costs is the number of Ideals points shown beside it on the Rewards tab, and your balance is at the top of every screen, so the two things you need in order to decide are always next to each other. The final catalogue is being confirmed with the events team, which is why the rewards and their point costs are configuration rather than something baked into the software.
Why do you need a corporate email address?
It is how we keep the programme to people who were actually at the event. Personal mailboxes, Gmail, Outlook, Yahoo and the like, are refused at sign-up. There is no password: we email you a link that works once and expires, so there is nothing to remember and nothing to leak.
You signed in but cannot earn or redeem yet.
That means you were not on the attendee list we imported, so your account is waiting for a member of the Ideals team to confirm you were there. You can look around in the meantime. Show your screen to somebody on the team at the event and they will confirm you on the spot.
How many colleagues can you invite?
Up to 5 colleagues for the pilot. Each invitation is read by a person on the Ideals team, and the points for it are added when that check is done, not when you send it.
Who sees the photos you upload?
The Ideals concierge team running the programme, through their own password-protected admin screens. Uploads are not published anywhere and are never given a public link, and we would ask you first before using one for anything else. Assume a person on the team will look at what you send. Uploads are deleted automatically a set number of days after they have been reviewed, and sooner if you ask us. See how we handle your data for the exact windows.
Can you get a copy of your data, or have it deleted?
A copy, yes, instantly: sign in and use Download my data on the data protection page. Deletion is a request rather than a button. Tapping Request erasure records it and emails the team, and a person completes it within 30 days. Nothing is deleted the moment you tap it, and your account keeps working until it is done.
Does the portal track you?
No advertising cookies, no analytics, no third-party trackers. It does keep an ordinary server log: one line per request with the time, the page, the result and a shortened form of the IP address it came from, kept on our own server and used for security. The one thing loaded from elsewhere is the Montserrat typeface, which comes from Google's font service and therefore shows Google your IP address and browser. The data protection page spells all of it out.
Something looks wrong. Who do you tell?
Email rewards@idealsprecisionseries.com and a person will look at it. Every point movement is logged with the reason and the email that went with it, so anything that looks odd can be traced and corrected.
